The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) has invited applications for its Litigation Fellowship aimed at supporting early-career lawyers pursuing litigation. This fellowship is designed to provide financial stability, mentorship, and structured learning opportunities to young litigators at a crucial stage in their careers.
Through this fellowship, NLSIU claims that they seek to support a cohort of 30 early-career litigators by providing:
A monthly stipend of Rs. 30,000
Professional mentorship
Continuous learning and skill development opportunities
A peer network of litigators
The fellowship will be offered for a duration of two years and will initially focus on candidates based in Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Must be a graduate of a 3 year or 5 year law degree with a minimum of 55 percent or equivalent CGPA
Must be enrolled with a State Bar Council and have passed the All India Bar Examination
Final year law students graduating in 2026 are eligible to apply, provided they meet the above requirements before the fellowship begins
Must be 30 years of age or below as on the last date of application
Must not have completed more than 5 years since graduation
Must have secured a position with a practising lawyer or law office
Must submit a Statement of Purpose explaining how their litigation career will contribute to the rule of law and constitutional values
Preference
Preference will be given to first-generation lawyers and candidates from marginalised backgrounds
Women litigators are strongly encouraged to apply and will have access to additional professional development and networking opportunities through NLSIU
Application Process
Applications must be submitted through the official application form by NLSIU, which can be accessed here.
Deadline
The last date to submit applications is April 15, 2026 (5 PM IST).
