Monthly ₹30,000 Stipend for Lawyers: NLSIU Litigation Fellowship, Applications Open!

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) has invited applications for its Litigation Fellowship aimed at supporting early-career lawyers pursuing litigation. This fellowship is designed to provide financial stability, mentorship, and structured learning opportunities to young litigators at a crucial stage in their careers.

Through this fellowship, NLSIU claims that they seek to support a cohort of 30 early-career litigators by providing:

• A monthly stipend of Rs. 30,000

• Professional mentorship

• Continuous learning and skill development opportunities

The fellowship will be offered for a duration of two years and will initially focus on candidates based in Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Must be a graduate of a 3 year or 5 year law degree with a minimum of 55 percent or equivalent CGPA

• Must be enrolled with a State Bar Council and have passed the All India Bar Examination

• Final year law students graduating in 2026 are eligible to apply, provided they meet the above requirements before the fellowship begins

• Must be 30 years of age or below as on the last date of application

• Must not have completed more than 5 years since graduation

• Must have secured a position with a practising lawyer or law office

• Must submit a Statement of Purpose explaining how their litigation career will contribute to the rule of law and constitutional values

  
  

Preference

• Preference will be given to first-generation lawyers and candidates from marginalised backgrounds

• Women litigators are strongly encouraged to apply and will have access to additional professional development and networking opportunities through NLSIU
